Anaerobic Chamber Air Purification

Palladium Catalysts for Oxygen Removal

For over 40 years, Anco Catalysts has supplied palladium catalysts for anaerobic chambers and controlled atmosphere systems used in microbiological, medical, and laboratory applications.

Anco Catalysts usually provides the catalyst only. The manufacturer of the anaerobic chambers produces the sachets incorporating our catalysts.

These systems maintain oxygen-free atmospheres required for anaerobic bacterial growth and sensitive biological processes.

Catalyst Types

We supply several palladium-on-alumina catalyst grades:

Type DK

0.5% Palladium on alumina pellets

High strength and reduced dusting

Type DK3

  • 0.3% Palladium on alumina pellets

Type DS2

0.2% Palladium on alumina spheres

System Performance

Our catalyst systems operate at room temperature and reduce oxygen levels to below 1 ppm.

Typical operation involves circulating a nitrogen/hydrogen gas mixture through the catalyst, where oxygen reacts with hydrogen to form water vapour.

Catalyst Protection

Sulphur compounds such as H₂S and SO₂ can reduce catalyst performance.
